Reclaimed Waste: From coconut milk to coconut water, people’s seemingly insatiable appetite for all things coconut comes at an environmental cost. More than 9 million tons of coconut shells are produced worldwide each year, out of which only 15 per cent are used. Every year billions of coconuts grow and are harvested for their water and white meat – unfortunately 99% of coconut shells go to waste, and are often burned which releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Instead, we reclaim these waste coconut shells, sourcing them from the coconut farms after their water and white meat has been extracted.
